As a member of 100 Women Who Care of Southern New Hampshire, you are eligible to submit a nomination for one of the charities that is up for consideration to receive our collective donation. All active members who have paid the previous quarter’s donation are encouraged to complete and submit the nomination form with your charity of choice. Each member is permitted to nominate one charity per quarter.
In order to make sure all nominations are legitimate non-profits, we have a vetting process. We look to see if they are registered with the IRS with the appropriate Tax ID, check for 501(c)(3) status and we also like to ensure that they serve the southern New Hampshire community. Once the charity has been vetted - the charity is placed in our “Fishbowl”. Prior to each quarterly meeting - (3) charities are randomly chosen from the fishbowl to be presented to our members at the next meeting. Nominations stay in the “Fishbowl” until they are chosen to receive our collective donation or until the nominating member leaves our group - whichever comes first. Charities that receive our runner-up donation of $1,000 are returned to the “Fishbowl” after the next quarterly meeting and are again eligible to be randomly chosen out of the “Fishbowl” for our collective donation of $10k+.
Our group is always interested in hearing about new non-profits in the area. Oftentimes in meetings, many members have never heard of the charities and are happy to have learned more about them. Even if they do not win the collective donation, they can still be pulled out of the “Fishbowl” another time and members are able to donate in their private giving as well.
